It suggests to me that the effect of changing from 35 to 38.3 degrees will be to include a little more data from the high troposphere and possibly lower stratosphere. Does that sound right to you, David?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15427410783634375334noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28837843.post-47660314039499237662016-02-04T15:49:28.271-08:002016-02-04T15:49:28.271-08:00David in Cal:

This new, unpublished V 6.X will likely go thru as many revisions as necessary to get a stable, sniff-testable output. Add this to the fact Spencer was harping on the quality of the sensors, and the sniff test is fishy.

Best,

DDanohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03709762632849004871noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28837843.post-21391339269762785282016-02-04T13:16:15.827-08:002016-02-04T13:16:15.827-08:00I do not have the background to understand what Sp...I do not have the background to understand what Spencer's explanation means. He also wrote:

The net result is to generally cool the land trends and warm the ocean trends. The global trends have almost no change from beta4; the change mostly affects how the average trend in 2.5 deg. latitude bands is ‘apportioned’ between land and ocean.

I'm a suspicious person. I'd like to see numbers demonstrating that Spencer's change didn't significantly lower the trend.

CheersDavid in Calhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10222355423128534221noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28837843.post-74506028256286478972016-02-04T00:23:01.713-08:002016-02-04T00:23:01.713-08:00Could it be that processing the UAH data is an art...Could it be that processing the UAH data is an art and has more in common with the principles of haruspicy than science?George Montgomeryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07042191140401441348noreply@blogger.com
