If your skill set is only up to that of a poor Chinese pheasant or illegal immigrant then you will have a tough time making a good living for yourself/family.
There has to be an incentive in the economy to attain better skill sets. One had better stay in high school and then get a college degree or trade school degree in a profession that is in demand.
I have relatives who have only a high school education, and they have skills that a poor Chinese peasant does not have. (And they also know that "peasant" isn't spelled like the word for the bird.) And I'm sure poor Chinese peasants have skills none of us have. In any case, all of them, even illegal immigrants, need and deserve health care.
And not everyone can afford a college degree, Charles, or even a trade school. And apparently some people can't even afford to take a spelling class.
I'm not sure what is more puzzling: (a) The original blog post - what point is it trying to make? (b) CharlesH's comment about pheasants - what relevance does that have to the post? (c) David accusing CharlesH of bigotry.

Charles, take your bigotry elsewhere.

I would be interested in hearing what definition of bigotry you are using.
ReplyDeleteGoogle definition:
"big·ot·ry/ˈbigətrē/
Noun:
Bigoted attitudes; intolerance toward those who hold different opinions from oneself."
How would you advise anyone to prepare themselves to provide for themselves in a world economy?
What services (e.g. food, shelter, clothing, health care, ....) do you think should be provided to everyone as a "right"?
What responsibility does anyone have to provide for themselves?
What share of your income (absolute and %) do you freely give to help others?
Charles: I am picking my own definition of bigotry.
ReplyDeleteThe rest of your questions aren't worth my time.
