Idiots both.
PS: Recall that Patrick Moore
- did not (co)found Greenpeace,
- wrote a 2006 op-ed published in the Washington Post that, when he was working in PR for the nuclear industry warned about "catastrophic climate change" from "CO2, the primary greenhouse gas responsible for climate change"
- then years later made the fabulastic claim that "the editor put words in my mouth" (to which he apparently never complained), and
- made a fool of himself by refusing to drink glyphosphate (the weed killer "Roundup" produced by Monsanto) after saying "you can drink a whole quart of it and it won't hurt you."
In other words, Patrick Moore is a corporate whore.
Here's the video where he claims "you can drink a whole quart of (glyphosate) and it won't hurt you." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovKw6YjqSfM
ReplyDeleteI love that video. It's probably one of the best 45 seconds of film in human history.
ReplyDeletePatrick Moore says you can drink a quart of glyphosate and it won't hurt you. But Patrick Moore won't drink a glass of it on TV because he's not an idiot. But he would be happy to drink it because he knows it wouldn't hurt him. But he won't drink it because he's not stupid.
Monsanto Advocate Says Roundup Is Safe Enough To Drink, Then Refuses To Drink It
Patrick Moore: You can drink a whole quart of it and it won’t hurt you.
Canal+: You want to drink some, we have some here.
PM: I’d be happy to actually. Not really, but, I know it wouldn’t hurt me.
Canal+: If you say so, I have some.
PM: No, no. I’m not stupid. People try to commit suicide with it and fail regularly.
Canal+: No, no. Let’s tell the truth.
PM: It’s not dangerous to humans. No, it’s not.
Canal+: So are you ready to drink a glass of glyphosate?
PM: No, I’m not an idiot.
And major props to that interviewer for bringing along some Roundup.
ReplyDeleteYes indeed. We need more interviewers like that.
ReplyDeleteWTF is the City of Regina thinking? The conference is apparently intended to discuss sustainable cities in general, and "to set the framework to make Regina 100 per cent renewable by 2050" in particular.
Moore is a crank whose sole purpose is to undermine the entire concept of sustainability. It's like a conference of pacifists paying Henry Kissinger or Dick Cheney to be their keynote speaker.
Or the National Cattlemen's Beef Association paying the head of PETA or a prominent vegan to be their keynote.
Moore is known for promoting any cause he is paid for. Maybe if he is paid to appear here, he will decide to go back to talking about catastrophic climate change? Not that this would give him more credibility so it's still a waste of money.
ReplyDeleteGreat news. They have canceled him!

Here is Peter Hadfield explaining in his carefully researched and entertaining way the myriad untruths of Patrick Moore.
