Elected, Not Looking to Legislate

“I have built my staff around comms rather than legislation.”
-- 25-year-old freshman Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.)

via WaPo.

Cawthorn gave a fiery speech on Jan 5th, and is not sorry for urging the crowd to fight attempt a coup. Because...well, you figure it out:

“I don’t regret it, actually,” Cawthorn said in a clip of an interview with Ozy Media founder Carlos Watson for his YouTube program, “The Carlos Watson Show.” “Obviously, I think what happened on Jan. 6 was despicable. I thought it was conducted by weak-minded men and women who are unable to check their worst impulses and had very little self-control.”
So he urged everyone to fight, then complained they were weak-minded for following him. A true Republican leader.

  1. Are you sure he didn't complain that they failed?

  2. David - the word "fight" is used routinely by politicians, football coaches and leaders of all sorts.

    Lean to the left
    Lean to the right
    Stand up, sit down
    Fight! Fight! Fight!

Is it no longer OK to fight racism?

    Cheers

  3. David, you know word use and meaning is all about context.

  4. David - Trump used the word at a rally where he was urging people to peacefully demonstrate. His context had no implication of violence or law -breaking.

    Cheers

  5. I disagree, David. Trump said

"If you don't fight like hell you're not going to have a country anymore"

  6. He spent months lying to his base about the end of American democracy. It started months before the election. What he said on the 6th is a small part of that.

It was clear well in advance of the 6th that this would not end well. DiC - your own cousin in law warned you about this. It's not reasonable to suggest that no one could have seen the consequences of his lies.

When he told them to stand by, they stood by. When he told them to fight, they fought. And when he told them to stand down, they stood down.
