By the way, these WUWT geniuses are literally celebrating the thing that they always accuse "official science" of doing: politically interfering with "actual science". This time this interference came through the stupidity of a court. I always tell them that "official science" is just science, you can't just reject things you don't like or rather that are against your financial interests. Scientific results are not achieved in isolation, they are connected to other results like a brick in the wall. Of course I know it's not that simple but anyway.
NYOLCI: Hi, thanks for your comment & link. I know of the verdict but didn't see this exactly. I don't really know what to say about it, but yes, it does seem very stupid. By now I'm not following this case very closely--the science on the hockey stick is very clear by now--and it hardly seems fair. I'm guessing there will be an appeal (?). I guess when you've lost the science debate you take refuge in any "positive" signs you can find to maintain the illusion you're still the superior one....
Seems crazy that when your science is right and dishonorable people say despicable things about you anyway you can't defend yourself. Mann has (and will always have) the ultimate victory but these cretins are so desperate this will make them feel justified. Or something. Probably not finished yet.
