I am a big fan of predictions -- especially mathematically accurate predictions like
Einstein's result for the anomalous perihelion shift of Mercury, or
Schwinger's prediction of the electron anomalous magnetic moment (g-2 ≈ α/π) -- or even QCD's prediction for the muon capture rate by protons, which was
recently confirmed -- but Mendeleev didn't do so bad either:
