100 Million COVID-19 Cases in US

US just reached 100 million cumulative cases of COVID-19.
Daily cases are growing here but not yet too bad. Still, I've started wearing a mask again when I visit big stores. Five vaccination shots and still COVID-free, though I did have a bad virus this summer that led to walking pneumonia. ("Walking" means I didn't have to be hospitalized.) But I tested negative for COVID. I'm wondering if it might have been RSV -- it was the sickest I've been in many years. It was strange being so sick in the middle of summer.

30% of the population?

I don't think we're really counting cases in Canada at this point. Self tests are available for free. My kids have had it a couple times. The instructions are to stay home if you're sick, but there is nowhere to report the cases to.

But some people have had COVID more than once.... So < 30% I assume.

I don't think all cases are being reported in the US, either. Some states have stopped counting, for example:

"....likely an undercount"

Meanwhile, nearly 37 million people in China may have been infected with Covid-19 on a single day this week.

About the population of Canada!

The effect of underfunding would be to increase the estimated population infected at least once.

Multiple reported infections would decrease the estimate.

37 million is an unfathomable number, even accounting for the denominator. 37 million represents 2.6% of China's population. On its worst day (Jan 14), the US had only 0.3% of its population get infected. Add to this the fact that China had an abysmal excess mortality during 0 covid. Their strategy must be seen as a complete failure.
