Think the Insurrection is Done? Not by a Long Shot

A call for the execution of those who honestly counted the vote in the 2020 presidential election. No kidding:

A lot of good and decent people are taking this thing seriously because they have been mislead by the leaders of their country.

It seems to me, the only reasonable response when your democracy is being stolen, is to storm the capital and take it back.

It's a shame that the only people facing consequences are the ones who were duped, and not the people who mislead them.

The democracy wasn't stolen, but they stormed the Capitol anyway.

Yeah. I agree. But it's not unreasonable that these people believed their politicians and president who told them that the election was a sham. They haven't backed down from that position in the least.

As long as their leaders are telling them that democracy is on the brink, we should expect people to continue to react accordingly.

So I agree with the title. It's not over. Not by a long shot.

Regarding the Miami collapse I have a hypothesis.

The building was built on a barrier island,on reclaimed wetland. It has a history of sinking foundations.

Perhaps rising sea levels caused seawater to seep into the subsoil and reduce its ability to support the weight of the building above it. Ultimately a rapid subsidence stressed the building enough to cause the collapse.

EM: Yeah, from my (OK, very limited) understanding the underlying ground there is oolite, which is porous, which is why sea walls won't work in Miami, because the sea percolates up from underneath.

But I don't know.

I suspect there is going to be a great deal of work now to figure out what happened and if other buildings there are in danger, and if they will be as sea level rises.
