“Build back better, blah blah blah. Green economy, blah blah blah. Net zero by 2050, blah blah blah. This is all we hear from our so-called leaders. Our hopes and ambitions drown in their empty promises.”

We elect politicians to tell us what We want to hear, rather than what we need to know.
What we want to hear is that "All is for the best in this best of all possible worlds." All problems are minor and have easy, cheap solutions.
Reality is much less pleasant, but reality never won elections.
"Build back better, blah blah blah. Green economy, blah blah blah."
What a Negative Nancy!
Yes, Greta appears to be just a little worried about her future.
@Entropic man
We elect a clown from a set of clowns we are allowed to choose from. Tackling climate change need some structural changes, and current western capitalism doesn't allow those changes (without a fight). I'm not talking about a conspiracy, the powerful people have converging interests so they push similar policies, that's all.
I'm starting to think that solving climate change won't happen without ending capitalism, and as you say that's going to take quite a fight, and not a nonviolent one either. And perhaps Greta's generation will reach that point.
