India's Moon Landing (Today)

India is about to land a craft on the moon, in an hour or two. (4-5 pm EDT, 1-2 pm PDT). You can watch it here. The New York Times has other options.

Added 1:39 pm - it looks like the landing has failed.

Regrettably they lost contact with the lander just before arrival.

The orbiter is still active and gathering data.

India is doing as well as any emerging space nation, some successes and some failures. The main job of their space agency is earth imaging and communications satellites, but it is good to see their engineers given the opportunity to stretch their wings a little.

They found it, looks intact, but have not yet established contact.
