Paul Dirac's comment on Robert Oppenheimer's interest in poetry:
"The aim of science is to make difficult things understandable in a simpler way; the aim of poetry is to state simple things in an incomprehensible way. The two are incompatible."P.A.M Dirac developed an equation that made quantum mechanics compatible with special relativity (at least for spin ½ particles like the electron).
While a superlative physicist, Dirac was a bit of an oddball; more stories here.
