Last month: warmest temperature ever recorded for the Southern Hemisphere in the modern era.

This month: Typhoon Haiyan, one of the strongest storms on record, bashes the Philippines.

Haiyan's strength is likely related to a higher temperature and moisture in the air. The actual occurrence of Haiyan may be a little more difficult to establish a link.

Three costliest typhoon disasters in Philippines all occurred in past 12 months. I guess the poor will simply have to adapt to climate change.
